Hi,
I'm just wondering if anyone knows if you usually get called in to see a consultant if it isn't cancer?
Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in April. The night before my last surgery I found a lump in my breast.
Within two weeks I was at the breast clinic. Mammogram and ultrasound results came back okay, but the GP had found two lumps, the advance practitioners had found several and the lump I had found, they said was structurally very different to the other lumps so they wanted to take a biopsy.
They took six biopsies and rushed the results through. I got a call telling me they are 90% certain it's not cancer and ill receive a letter in the post in a couple of weeks with the full results from pathology.
Great news I thought. Nothing to worry about. I can stop having nightmares about my whole body having cancer, just my cervix (hopefully - still waiting on staging and further treatment).
And then today, I receive a letter from breast clinic. Consultant appointment on Wednesday. I'm shocked, and I'm scared.
I know with cervical abnormalities you only see the consultant if it is cancer.
Are there any non-cancer related reasons you would see a breast consultant after breast clinic checks?
Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to respond. And I'm truly sorry if this is not the appropriate place to post my question.
Really sorry that you all find yourselves here xxxx
