I had my first Phesgo injection today. I was the first person in my hospital to have it.
Well....all was going well, it was not so stingy as Herceptin, just a funny taste in my mouth. Then as we got to half way (of the loading dose) I started to feel dizzy and sick. The next thing I know I was surrounded by a full crash team . My blood pressure dropped too low, so I was on oxygen and IV fluids and god knows what else was shoved into me.
I recovered quite quickly and the procedure didnt continue.
So quite an alarming day.....
Hi Louisewomble that sounds very frightening. How are you feeling now?
Hi Louisewomble, Sounds frightening I hope you’re okay now? I had my first Phesgo yesterday and had read your post the day before. I was very apprehensive but it was ok.. I just felt a very slight stinging for a couple of seconds. The injection site ,my thigh, has a small bruise, no swelling and I feel fine .Whole process took 8 minutes and then I had to wait for 20 minutes to make sure I was ok. No more going to the hospital every 3 weeks now and sitting for 2hours with the IV.
Home Treatment team will call to my home and administer it in future. Takes bout 5 minutes and they observe for about 10 minutes afterwards. Hope this helps anyone who is worried about it. xx
