Hi

Diagnosed 2 weeks ago with dcis and cancer cells in lymphnodes. Went for an appointment today thinking I would have a treatment plan, but MRI has shown the tumour has attached to the muscle. Ordering a CT to look at rest of my body then oncology will plan chemo treatment.
Anyone else had this?
Thanks to anyone in advance.

  • I had this and it was really scary waiting for the results of the CT scan. I went to get the results of the MRI thinking I would get my treatment plan of lumpectomy and radiotherapy only to be told that the tumour was on my chest muscle and I would need chemotherapy to shrink it so they could get clear margins. I needed a CT scan to check it hadn't spread too but I think they do this as a matter of routine anyway.

Waiting for those results was the worst part of all, even worse than waiting for the results of the biopsy that diagnosed me. I feel for you, nothing anyone can say to make that waiting time any easier.

My CT scan was clear and I got my results at the same time I saw the oncologist to hear about the chemo.

My chemo shrunk the tumour enough to get clear margins, though they did take a piece of muscle as well during the op (which I haven't noticed in terms of mobility).

Apparently, the tumour being attached to the chest wall is fairly common.

    Good luck with your results.

  • Thankyou for replying. I think it’s just knowing someone else has been through a similar situation helps so much.
can I ask your age? I’m 37 and they said that’s another reason they have ordered a CT

Thanks again, hope you are doing well in your journey

  • I'm mid 40s so they wanted to throw everything at me! The waiting is the worst part. Once you have the results of all the tests and scans and you have a proper treatment plan, you'll feel much better
