Hi all,
Has anyone had their 2nd covid jab while on chemo?
Mine is due on Thursday and I'm somewhat apprehensive about side effects from it on top of everything else...
Many thanks
Lynne xx
Hi, I had my second jab after my fist chemo cycle and I was fine, no side effects at all, but I had none from the first jab either. Think different people react in different ways but if you're worried, perhaps talk to your consultant or nursing team.
Hi I’d be interested in your replies too - I’m due to have 2nd jab on 23 may and first chemo is planned for 14 may. I’m gonna ask the chemo team when they phone for pre assessment on 12 may xx
I was told it's ok as long as not same day as treatment. I think I'm just worrying about how to know if side effects are from jab and not something of concern...

Many thanks

Tell me about it! I seem to be worrying about everything at the moment - even little things. Stressed about the chemo side effects and not even started yet. Been told not to let them for them as they’ll find me but mind going mad with worry xx
I completely understand! My anxiety levels are through the roof some days.
You will be given a 24 hour helpline, so don't feel like you are on your own. There is also a lot of helpful and reassuring info on here. A lot of it is fear of the unknown but there is help and support out there.
Good luck xx
Thanks - I live on my own aswell so any side effects I’ll have to deal with on my own! Xx
Do you have a good support network?
Try to be prepared and have plenty of food and paracetamol in the house just in case you have a few days where you don't feel like getting to the shops.
You will get through it xx
Parents are both in their 80s and live about 20 mins away. 2 close friends but they both have husbands and families so wouldn’t feel I could phone them in the middle of the night if I wasn’t well. My cancer was entirely removed by lumpectomy and it hadn’t spread to lymph nodes but as triple negative I’m having chemo and then radiotherapy as “preventative” - I know I have to have it and everyone says the first is the worst. I don’t cry in front of people but often do when I’m at home on my own xx
Crying is just part of the journey, never feel like it's not ok to cry. We all have those days.
It is recommended to have someone on call just in case, I'm sure your friends would rather you called if you need to....
I had a mastectomy and no visible signs of spread, like you the chemotherapy and radiation are a "belt and braces" and for me to know I've done all I can.
Cry when you need to and take all the help and support you can xx
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
