I am really struggling to finnish chemo i had a severe body rash on paclitaxol with my first treatment i am going again on Friday where they will tell me what they are planning on doing to counteract this . I am due to have 3 more pac and im seriously worried that i wont be able to complete this due to side effects . Has anyone else not been able to complete chemo? And are u ok now?

  • Hi

It might be that you are suffering an allergic reaction to the suspension the chemo is in, rather than the chemo itself. There’s a different formulation of paclitaxel called NAB-Paclitaxel, which generally causes fewer reactions. It might be worth asking if this would be appropriate for you.

  • I dont think they would prescribe this as its quite expensive and eould probably give me antihistamines in the first instance

  • Yes it’s more expensive than standard paclitaxel but it’s not on the same scale of costs as immunotherapy drugs. Worth asking the question anyway, they can say no.
