Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with invasive lobular cancer on 26th March after a routine mammogram and had a lumpectomy 2 days ago. Reading your positive posts has really helped me get through a scary month so I just wanted to say thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences. As my ‘name’ suggests, I am truly thankful to my brilliant breast care team who found my cancer early and have looked after me every step of the way. To anyone newly diagnosed, I want you to know that you are in the safest hands and you can get through this. There was no bigger scaredy cat than me and, even though I know I still have a long slog in front of me, I’m telling myself that every time I’m poked and prodded, it’s a step closer to getting better. Keep going everyone and thank you so much again. I honestly don’t know what I’d have done without your reassuring messages xxx
What a lovely message I was diagnosed 14th April after routine mammogram too and also had a lumpectomy 2 days ago. Now the long 2 week wait to find out the next steps....... this forum is great for reassurance... I'm sure we will be using it a lot more in the next stage of our treatment.....
Hi Merlin, I hope you’re ok...and doing your arm exercises!!! Ouch, it’s a bit sore isn’t it, but I’m well strapped into a sassy little sports bra that my daughter has already got her eye on after I’m finished with it :) Take care and I hope all goes well. Will definitely be using the forum in the coming months. We’ve got this far and we’ll get through the next phase. xxx
Yes def a bit sore. My mum had my 6year old twins til tonight so just got to get on with it tomorrow!! Another night of sleeping on my back I'm not looking forward to... xx
@trulythankful is your boob really swollen and bruised? Mine feels so swollen....
Hi Merlin, how are you feeling today? yes I’m very swollen and bruised. Doesn’t feel as bad today as yesterday though, thank goodness. Ive kept myself dosed up with pain relief. I bet your little ones will be excited to see their mum today. Are they boys or girls? I’m 54 so mine are all grown up now. Take it easy once they’re home. Ask them to help you with little jobs to make them feel important because they’re helping mummy. It’s surprising how they react when they know you’re not well. Especially if they see evidence!! I had my appendix out when my two were tiny and they loved to help. My other half is a man child so am still doing everything as normal anyway, just nothing heavy. Have a lovely day. xxx
Hi Truly yes it does get easier daily by day, the colours of the bruise are really coming out now and it still hurts a lot!, how are you feeling today?
I'm 51! But have 6 year old boy/ girl twins. Amd I'm a single mum so I'm finding this very tough.
Hope you are doing ok x
Wow you’re fantastic!! 51 with 6 year old twins! That’s lovely..a boy and a girl. They’ll keep you on your toes, for sure and I bet they were pleased to see you. I can understand you finding it tough being a single mum. It is a lot to deal with, especially all the hospital appointments. It’s good you had your mum around to help after surgery. I’m feeling a lot better today thanks. The swelling has gone down a lot but I’m very bruised. I guess it’s to be expected. Fingers crossed we both sleep a bit better tonight. Take care xxx
