Hi lizzy - I had awful pains in my arm after a lumpectomy and lymph node removal. I rang the BCN twice because I thought she was wrong when she said they were normal side effects! I couldn’t even touch my arm it hurt so much it would make me cry. It’s now been just over 3 weeks since my op and the pain is so much better. If you can bear to gently massage your arm which I’ve only just been able to start doing this does help a little. All I can say is that it does get better xxx
Thanks so much -,not able to do that yet but feels slightly better now
Thanks yes took my breath away feeling better every day
Hi Lizzy, reading your post has made me feel a bit better today, I had my op Thursday was doing my exercises on Saturday when I got the first sharp pain, felt like a needle piercing a nipple no longer there. wasn't sure if dressing was to tight, then it happened more when I moved, it got worse in the night when trying to get up and out of bed, started to think maybe I should go to my walk in clinic today, but after reading your post and the replies I feel better as I'm not the only one and it can be normal after a mastectomy and removal of a lymph node, I'll pop some pain killers today, which I haven't been doing and hopefully things will improve with time and that's something I've now been given. TIME. Thanks again Kim
Hi I remember it well a pain so sharp it took my breath away also found out it’s cut nerves firing up again which I suppose kind of makes sense I hope the pain killers dampen the pain for you but please get expert help if you need it. Sending you healing wishes liz x
