Hi, has anyone had an infection in the wound and how long did it take to clear?
I’m getting a little panicked as my mastectomy and immediate DIEP is booked for 4th Feb and it needs to be clear as they won’t operate until it’s completely healed.
Infection was noted when dressing was removed 10 days post op. My BCN saw it day 13, it was pussy and had opened up top and middle, it was cleaned and I was sent home with iodine dressings.
In day 15 Regional centre suggested I have antibiotics because of impending surgery but local consultant disagreed. Fast forward to day 20 when my GP intervened and prescribed them. This morning day 23 and the wound although has healed a little, is still open in 2 places and is still pussy. I’ve a week and 4 days before surgery.
I’m not sure what to do. I’d be grateful if advice.
