Hi.

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy non wired support bras. I'm currently going through my radiotherapy and now the boob area is less swollen I'd like to at least find a new support bra for daily use. I've tried taking the wire out my normal bra but that wasn't very comfortable. It's hard to balance each boob correctly so I'm assuming a good support bra would work better. Any recommendations would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Nicola xx

  • Hi Nichola

It is hard to find a good support bra that is non wired; I tried a few from M&S to Sainsbury's but did not find any particularly supportive.  I have heard that a sports bra is better.

  • Hi

My most comfy bra post mx/ANC were the front fastening mastectomy ones with pockets at M&S...VERY comfy.  Now post reconstruction (and either used to discomfort or too numb to notice!) their sports bra's are very good (front fastening still).

The only challenge with the mx bra is there's a very small hook and loop thing that isn't 100% necessary (as there's a zip too) but my failing eyesight meant that it got progressively harder to do up but a minor issue given the comfort.

Before recon when I tried to wear old wired bra's could only do so for a few hours until very uncomfortable.

Good luck on the boulder holder front.

  • Hi Nicola

I find the Beauty Light wireless bras from Uniqlo super comfortable and supportive. The sizing is a bit strange though!

  • Hi Nicola, it's 6 days after my MX and I've just tried one of the M&S surgery bras. It's not very glamorous but is very comfortable and feels very supportive. I'd definitely recommend. It's in beige and around £20. Good luck x

  • Hi there, Flower 42, why not try Nicola Jane online, they have a sale on now as well, for non wired bras, or you could try wearing crop tops, but make sure you get a larger than normal size, as these tend to be on the small side.  Patra silk do nice silk or bamboo ones too, they are also online with free postage.  Hope this helps.

Nightmare for me I’m a 32J no one does then this size so ordered stretch post surgery ones

  • I’ve just bought some really soft ones from Asda, free delivery too if you spend over £50. I got a size up. Normally wear a 36b, but went for a large and a 38b. They are cheaper than other places, so might treat myself to a more expensive one from somewhere once I’ve had my surgery,

  • Hello,

After an implant reconstruction, do you need to strong support bra? I have spinal issues so wearing anything tight around my back isn't good so wondering if it's necessary?
