Hi All,

I am due to have the above procedure in the next couple of weeks. I had my treatment plan chat yesterday and there were so many things they told me that I hadnt even thought about. Just wondering if anyone has any positive stories to tell it any practical advice or tips. It just all seems so daunting at the moment.

Thanks so much for your positive  advice and for being daft. I know that's what's needed and I'll try and be the same .

    Good luck with everything x

Good luck Lolly with your op will be thinking of you tomorrow. Honestly the worse part is the build up xx

  • Good luck for today ....let us know how you get on when you can and you can do this (despite having no sleep last night!!).

Hi, just over 2 weeks post op and doing fine.  Small amount of fluid build up but manageable.  Get my results on 6 January to see if they think they have got it all or if I am going to need radiotherapy.

  • Hi Lesley,

Great to hear you're doing well. It's 4 days since mine and things are not too bad. Can't wait to get my drains out though. I find the numbness under my arm really weird too.

I go in the 5th for mine so both very similar. Good luck. Hope it all keeps going ok x

    Hi

Glad you are not feeling too bad. Really nice when the drains are removed. Its a real relief when that bits over. Hope you are feeling less anxious.  I signed up for chemo yesterday will start in Jan. Apprehensive but at the end of the day dont want to go through this a third time

Keep me posted on your progress

  • Hi, yes much better without the drains and half a shower. It's so weird that it's the really same things that make such a big difference now . Yes chemo is like a belt and braces isn't it so can only be an extra help. Have a lovely Christmas and let me know how everything is going x

  • Hi ,

Good to hear you're doing well and are now drain-free, its nice not to be shackled to those most cumbersome devices isn't it?

I found that the numbness under my arm did abate somewhat though not altogether, you'll get used to it though...and on the plus side you'll most likely never get armpit hair or need deodrant that side ever again...there's always silver linings!!

Look after the arm though, I fell off my bike (am vvvv clumsy) and now have lymphodema, not the end of the world, just another annoyance...the compression sleeve & glove does however keep my arm peachy in the cold weather...see another silver lining...

Have a lovely festive break, you deserve it.
