Hi All,
I am due to have the above procedure in the next couple of weeks. I had my treatment plan chat yesterday and there were so many things they told me that I hadnt even thought about. Just wondering if anyone has any positive stories to tell it any practical advice or tips. It just all seems so daunting at the moment.

Hi Lolly thanks for asking. Now 2 weeks post op and had all dressings taken off yesterday which was great as difficult to shower properly with them on . Have not been in in much pain. Also feeling like i am calming down a little too with daily hypnotherapy. Looks likely i might need chemo now as the tumour was larger and stage 3. There was also another type of cancer there called lobular inaddition to the ductil in a different area of the breast. You get the results from histology about a week after the op. Both this time and last time they underestimated the size of the tumour. Although this time round it was much bigger. Will hear about the chemo next week. Hope your op goes well the worse part is the waiting for all this to happen. Once you are in their system it all seems to roll like clock work. Lots and lots of luck with your op.Take care xxx
Hi,
That's great that you are not in much pain and are calming down a bit. I think that the worry causes as much pain and stress as the cancer. I feel as if I've have loads more aches and pains than before I found out and am sure it's due to worry
I'm sorry to hear you now have to have chemo but at least it's belt and braces I guess. My type is lobular which they say is 4cm. Do you know when you will start the chemo? Were your lymph nodes affected?
Take care. I'm thinking of you as we're in a similar position and you sound so upbeat so I hope I can be. Xx
Hi Lolly
Totally agree ref aches and pains my teeth have been painful due to clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth and my gums flared up. Relieved to know its not just me who has pains thought i was getting a bit obsessed. I know its the stress as beginning to improve again. . Interesting yours is all lobular as i said i had that and the ductil as well. Wont it be great when this is all over !!!
I think we think it's just us but really we are all going through the same roller coaster feelings . It was be fantastic when this is all over and we can get our lives back .
Take care x
Sorry, not been on here much. Op went fine. Apart from excrutiating pain due to drain hitting a nerve everything else is fine. Doctors refused to believe it was the drain causing the problem but have had no problems since drain was removed. Was due to be out of hospital on Friday but didn't come out until Sunday due to the pains. Drain removed on Sunday and was then discharged. No pain to speak of, just an occasional twinge. Due to have dressing removed today by practice nurse (had it changed on Tuesday and she said it was looking good).
Hi Lolly P
I'm doing marvellously thanks. Had my DIEP on Tuesday so am now the proud owner of strange numb new boob and a flat belly! Was tired yesterday but fine today and did well weaning self off the oxycodone as don't want to be constipated for days on end. I have to say that my annoying optimism and positivity yet again do me proud and have really helped me recover quickly (and being fit & healthy beforehand).
Hope your op is as straightforward as mine and that you recover as well, I do however keep needing to be reminded to slow down so need to start listening(a new concept for me).

Hi Sara,
So sorry to hear you're in the same boat. My op is on the 17th for same thing as you. I couldn't have chemo as I have the type of cancer that chemo doesn't work on apparently .
How are you feeling? How has the chemo affected you? I'm not feeling very brave but trying to be x
Hi Lesley,
Glad to hear op went well but not so good about the pain from the drain. One I'll look out for though.
I was told I won't be in overnight. Would you have been out the same day if you hadn't had that pain?
What happens next for you x
