hi everyone,
ive been on tamoxifen around 2 years, with all the stated side effects! Anyway last few weeks ive had excruciating pain on my low back, i think it may be sciatica. Ive had something like this pain before during chemo however within few hours i was back to normal. This time round, its been nearly 4 weeks and pain is still there. Im thinking isit because my body is lacking estrogen and maybe therefore taking longer to heal?
ill be seeing my oncologist soon so hopefully can get to the bottom of this. Really feel like stopping this tamoxifen!!
has anyone else had anything similar like this? I honestly feel like tamoxifen is causing all this
look forward to reading the replies. and hopefully im not the only one!
Hi
Yes I have degenerative disc disease in my spine (arthritis) and the Letrozole makes the pain worse. I had a bone scan and MRI some years ago the pain was so bad, but nothing sinister found.
I take large doses of natural anti inflammatory twice a day and I work 12 hour shifts as a nurse,so it does really work. I have done 5 years on Letrozole so I can give up if I wish, and I did whilst nursing the Covid and felt much better.
How do you get into bed? And get up in the mornings? Im struggling, as the movement really sends shooting/burning pain.
the doses of anti inflammatory u mentioned, do u mean tablets? Where can i get these from?
Hi Some days are worse than others. I find the best combination is gentle exercise (keep moving) and on work days I just power through it and the next day feel like someone has given me a good kicking.
The natural anti inflammatory I am talking about can be found at Holland and Barrett and I get the capsules. I dare not say the name as I have been kicked off the Mac site in the past, but they really do work. C*D O*L if you are good at puzzles or PM me xxx
How do i send a pm? Haha clearly im not good at puzzles!
Hi
Sciatica is awful, I had it many years ago and had to have the disc removed! I would have happily taken a knife to my right buttock. Since then no trouble until the other week, been on Letrozole since April, and had a Zometa infusion, most of the pain is in the left side but the right side flared up, was taking paracetamol as I didn't get on with the stronger painkillers the doctor gave me. Have you had a bone density scan, I had one a month ago and it showed thinning on the left hip and lower back, I have been put on Colecalciferol Calcium carbonate tablets, I don't want to jinx it, but it feels better! Although I would say try to keep moving as sitting to much aggravates it! Good luck!
hi Taz, I’ve been on letrozole since June and started with Sciatica about 8 weeks ago but got to the point last night I didn’t sleep at all no matter what an inflammatory tablets I took. I could barley get out of bed this morning. My husband wants me to stop taking them and see if there is anything else they can provide. I can’t go on like this for 10 years. When I told my oncologist on the first onset of sciatica she just said it’s the new normal!!
anyone changed tablets?? Xx
