Hi,
I had lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy a week ago and still feel sore. Thought I'd be ok by now. I'm following the post-op exercises. How long does it take to physically recover? What are people's experience of it?
Hi Elizabeth, thanks so much for the thoughtful and kind offer! I managed to get some little axillary cushions from Amazon which you tuck into your bra and those are helping for now.
You had such a long wait. I'm glad it all was better than you thought and you don't need more surgery or chemo. Hope you have a lovely well deserved holiday in August after the stress :) x
Hi everyone,
I had my post-op check last Friday (3 weeks after surgery) and was feeling much stronger and less bruised.
I now face the difficult dilemma of mastectomy or re-excision and have decided on re excision. The operation may be this week.
Feeling vulnerable. Hope everyone else is doing better than me. x
Hi Silvabell
Mine was bigger when I got my results last week. 3.5cm on scans and 4.1cm in reality.
How big was yours? I need a reincision too and wasn't offered mastectomy. It's a pain but be grateful it's not in the lymph nodes!!! That's good news..
Andrea
Thanks ACharge80,
It makes me feel better that someone else has also been through it. I just didn't expect these results so was quite shocked. I'm trying to be positive and happy with family and friends, but inside I feel so scared.
I hope that your re-excision was successful. Have you had the results yet?
Also any tips for getting through another opetation? I'm just one big coward x
Hi Silvabell , sorry your results were a shock, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the rollercoaster that is cancer treatment. I didn’t have a re excision but have seen many posts from those who have. From what I remember, there was a general feeling that the second op was ‘easier’, so I hope this is the case for you.
Might be worth starting a new thread with a title like ‘Anyone had a re-excision?’ as you’d prompt replies from those who have. Love and hugs, HFxx
I started a new thread on this, earlier this morning and someone has replied saying it was much easier!
Thank-you. I like your sentence about crying, I cried all over the poor BCN yesterday on the phone xx
