Hi,
I had lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy a week ago and still feel sore. Thought I'd be ok by now. I'm following the post-op exercises. How long does it take to physically recover? What are people's experience of it?
Hi Lisa Courtz & MissP6
I am glad to say I am feeling so much better. Hardly any pain what so ever now so fingers crossed it stays that way. I've been able to do the exercises now and yes I have my pillow with me all the time as well
Lisa you mentioned you had fluid under your wound, did they drain it or did it resolve itself?
Miss P6 I wish you a speedy recovery also.
Onwards and upwards we will beat this
They opted to leave it as I was in so much pain and they didn’t want to mess me around. It was quite large, but has resolved itself. Feel better soon x
Thank you for replying , I asked as today I started hearing a sloshing noise, at first I thought it was my stomach then realised it was my breast. Mine isn't painful but the noise is incredible, even my hubby can hear it when I'm walking around and in bed. Do you remember how long it took to resolve?
I never noticed a sound, but felt a tennis ball sized lump when I wasn’t using my cushion. It took a few weeks. Tbh, it wasn’t until I hit the 6-8 week mark that I felt more comfy.
Hi 2209, don't worry, just do what you can with the exercises, gently build them up. A little is better than nothing.
I'm still bruised amd swollen but this has reduced a lot. My under arm wound is like 3 little cuts ( 1cm long each) which are healed but the skin looks delicate. The steristrips fell off on their own. (The steristrips are still on my breast!)
I'm awaiting results from histology.
Hope you' are feeling more comfortable soon
Hi Silvabell
I think we had out lumpectomys same day 26th June..
Does your armpit wound feel sore. Mine does and I keep cleaning it but are we allowed to wear deodorant yet? I'm just worried about infections. I get my results in 2 days so can get them to check its OK then.
Andrea
I make these and give to my local hospital. I am more than happy to pop one in the post for you if your local hospital do not have any. I started making them to pass the time while I was waiting for my results after my lumpectomy as in my area these were taking up to 8 weeks to come through. I finally had my appointment today, almost 6 weeks after surgery and I dropped over 50 to the breast unit before my appointment x
