Complete response to chemo so no cancer. However radiotherapy and more chemo to come any idea for anxiety it’s really bad effecting day to day life now I’m anxious and scared all the time.

  • Hi so sorry you feel overwhelmed but hope that you will feel supported by all of us who use this forum . It’s normal to feel scared and hard to explain to anyone not in the same situation .

i had surgery and radiotherapy but had a new scare 18 months later . All the same worries and fears came flooding back and it was not good fir several weeks .

i find  using breathing exercises calms me down and helps me go off to sleep if I’m awake in the night .

Try to get a walk in when you can to get out of the house and get some fresh air . And keep hydrated .
Also don’t be afraid to cry and talk and share your feelings when you can .

Lots of us here know how you feel so keep in touch .

  • Hi, sorry you find yourself in this situation.  I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node removal and a second round of surgery due to margins not being clear.  I then had two weeks of radiotherapy and on Anastrozole for five years.  I suffered with really bad anxiety.  The moment I opened my eyes in the morning I felt sick and my stomach sank,  I spoke/cried to MacMillan support service and they enrolled me for counselling through Action Cancer.  I can’t recommend them highly enough.  I had 8 sessions and I learnt so much.  They also advised me to speak to my GP which I did and they put me on medication.  I’m on Duloxetine.  I would contact MacMillan support and ask if you can speak to someone. Hope this helps and you are not alone in how you are feeling.

  • Hi Tdlo,

Sorry you find yourself in this situation. We are all the same. I think it's the fear of the unknown uncertainty.

I used the macmillan nurses and cancer care supports. They were really knowledgeable explained everything and the cancer care team helped also with my anxiety.

Try to do pamper things. Make a list of things that you get  pleasure from. Spend time with friends and family. Treat yourself daily even if it's just listening to your favourite music or watching a film.

Try to practice relaxation, deep breathing exercises help. You can find some on YouTube.

I wish you well please keep us updated xx
