Hi,

I’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer and have just started my treatment which is 6 cycles of chemo, surgery then radiology. My next chemo is this Friday which I’m dreading as I had really bad side effects from the first cycle. Has anyone any advice on how to cope through out this? I feel so isolated and am beginning to feel depressed Pensive xxxx

  • I hope you’re well and the blood was ok to go ahead with treatment. It’s always a set back when chemo is delayed. I agree the filgrastim injections side effects are awful but let your oncologist team know and they’ll be able to give you something to help you get through it. Please don’t suffer alone. They are there to help. I hope your treatment goes well tomorrow. Will be thinking of you. Sending warm wishes xx

  • Hi  I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing after your chemo. I hope the side effects haven't been too bad and that you're managing ok. Don't forget the lovely folks here at Macmillan are available on 0800 808 0000 if you want to chat anything through or ask for advice. Best wishes

  • Hi I had my first of six last Monday ! True the stomach cramps and toilet issues are the worst due to the injection we have to self administer . I have fyBOGEL given by my GP which I take daily now to help , I push myself to walk daily and drink lots of water .. by Thursday I felt better , I just try and think each one is one done !
I hope you get the help you need and please talk openly with your doctor and they can also help alongside your oncology team x

  • I am so sorry - that must have been awful. My partner was/is very keen for me to get back to "normal" and so isn't as understanding as I sometimes wish he could be, but has been there for me.  There are other support systems out there which I hope that you can tap into, but I know that is not that same as being let down by your partner.
