Hi, I’d just like some advice how long does lobular breast cancer surgery take to heal? What’s the worst time healing like week 1-6?
I work part time an I want to care for my mum yet I’ve nearly used all my carer allowance that’s unpaid, other things like dependancy leave is only for emergencies unpaid,
I was thinking of decreasing my contract to less hours on balancing care, yet could I get time off with a docs note for like a month? Is sick pay valid in these cases or what is there to help?
thankyou for reading
Hi carecaz90 , I don’t think I can help much with your questions as I had a different sort of breast cancer but wanted to pop in with a hug. Also I wasn’t sure if you were asking re healing time for yourself or for your mum? I do have a couple of suggestions for getting information…. On this site there is an Ask a nurse facility where you can post questions and a nurse will answer. Also, if you phone the helpline here, they have work advisers who may be able to help with your work query. And if you are asking as a carer for your mum who has cancer, there’s a group on this site specifically for carers and families where you could hopefully link up with others in your situation.
Others will I’m sure pop in soon with more related experiences than I have, but in the meantime sending love and a big virtual hug, HFxx
Hi Carecaz90,
Welcome to the forum, depending on op site and op I e. Lumpectomy or mastectomy your age and health will determine how quickly you heal.
You are entitled to a doc line for all of ghe time you are unfit. I got a line when I first diagnosed as I couldn't think straight. I have had my op chemo radiotherapy and now returning to work slowly. I have been off since May last year.
Speak with your GP or cancer care team. They will provide info and your GP will provide a fit note.
Good luck with your recovery. Keep us updates xxx
Hi Carecaz90. I also treated for lobular breast cancer last March and the surgery took about 6 weeks to heal. I've been retired since just before the op so unfortunately I can't help you with your other questions. Good luck, though and I hope it goes well for you.
