Hi all
Just to say hello everyone and so pleased this popped up on my FB feed this morning as have felt isolated from people who are also going through this journey, even though I have the best family and friends. I am 41 with two beautiful daughters 11 and 8! So it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions since diagnosis on 16th Dec, grade 2 duct cancer in left breast and one lymph node affected. Had ct scans, pet scans (luckily no spread anywhere) and finally my surgery yesterday and home by 2pm so felt happy. Luckily have one incision where they removed the lump and lymph nodes together. Relatively minimal pain yesterday and woke up stiff and arm feels tender this morning. Will start my advised exercises today to see if that helps stiffness and get back on my paracetamol as not had that since last night.
So I’m hoping my recovery continues in this way as was fearful the most of what this stage is like. I’m a bit of a worrier so constantly checking the white bandage for bleeding or anything strange and petrified for infections etc but all ok in these very early stages.
I’ve got a good 4/5 week wait for them to test the lump before they will confirm my treatment plan so another waiting game.
lovely to be part of this group and hope you are all coping on where ever you are on this crazy journey!
Hi Cazzac1
Welcome to the forum. Sorry you have BC.
The waits are the worst. Once you have a diagnosis and treatment plan you will be able to focus on one treatment at a time.
I was grade 3, had a lumpectomy and removal of sentinels. Iv had my chemo, radiotherapy and now on Letrozole and 6 monthly bone infusions. I was diagnosed May last year finished all treatments in October. I am starting back at work next week.
The last paragraph is to give idea of time frames. Once treatment starts you just go from one to the other.
I wish you well with your recovery. Be kind to yourself and listen to your body.
Make use of macmillan nurses and cancer care for support they are really good.
I'm happy to answer any questions on my journey if helpful.
Sending hugs xx
Morning! First stage behind you, another step to recovery and good health again. Definitely do those exercises and keep doing them for longer than they tell you too and hopefully like me, you’ll have full movement and no cording. Waiting is the worst part, not knowing the next step in treatment is mentally taxing but you’ll find good support here whatever is ahead and a wealth of experience. Just remember that everyone can be affected differently by the treatments and try not to scare yourself. Good luck and welcome x
Thank you so much taking the time to respond. I’m ok and done some of my exercises this morning which felt good but still quite restricted in movement but think I’m being cautious as only day 1 after op!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
