Well I am middle 60s and had breast cancer in 2016.  I had a lumpectomy, chemo and then radiotherapy.  Then the usual 5 years of pills.  Well, here I am again thinking that I may have to do this journey once more.  Well, I had my mammogram in July last year and got the all clear as usual....big thumbs up!  Then in November last year I started being unwell.  Tummy pains mostly with feeling bloated.  Finally went to the GP December 23rd.  To cut a long story short, I have an umbilical hernia.  Due to the bloating I had I had numerous tests.  Ultrasound, CT Scan etc.  The CT Scan showed I had a "thickening" underneath my breast.  I have been booked in for the 4 hour slot 31st January to either confirm it has returned or hasn't.  Personally, at this moment I honestly don't know if I can do it all over again.  Has anybody else had the "thickening" under their breast?  And if so, was it cancer?  Thanks for any information you may have.  Google wasn't very positive with only a 50 50 chance it is or isn't!

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I haven't had thickening under my breast since my treatment for breast cancer, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
