Hello,

im new to this group. I was diagnosed with grade 2 ductal carcinoma in September 24 and had a single mastectomy in November. Now I have to undergo treatment which started with my first chemotherapy session on Monday.
since Monday I’ve had real bad anxiety as it didn’t go exactly to plan. Anything that could have gone wrong did.  Just wondering if anyone as any tips or how they coped/managed when having chemotherapy please.

  • Hi Dani OA31,

Listen to your body. Sleep/nap when you need to. Keep buscopan and effervescent paracetamol handy for any stomach cramps. Keep a journal of any side effects to discuss at next treatment.

Be kind to yourself, pamper yourself when you feel up to it. Speak with the macmillan nurses and cancer care. They are both great supports.

My chemo finished September. I thought  I would never get to the end of it but I did. Take one day at a time.

Wishing you well in your recovery xx

  • Hi, sorry to hear the first chemo wasn't as you’d hoped. I blogged throughout my treatment and this blog post covers the things I wish I'd known about chemo. Maybe it helps a little. Best wishes

  • Hi DaniOA31,

I am in the same boat. I am struggling wildly with my first chemo that I started on 10/01 - It hasn't gone as I expected at all and I don't want to continue... Or at least I have no idea how I will continue and am also having massive anxiety.

I'll be following along to see what others advise - but wanted you to know that there was someone else here feeling and experiencing the same kind of thing you are - you are not alone.

    Sending virtual strength and warmth,

    Inky
