So hi ,I'm Karen 49 from Swansea. Diagnosed in Dec with stage 2 triple positive mucosal carcinoma breast cancer. Went to check on a lump I found which turned out to be normal but they found a 22mm tumour on ultrasound by accident. It doesn't even show on a mammogram. Shocked but feeling fortunate it's been found early. Having a lumpectomy on the 13th January then chemo and immunotherapy not sure about radiotherapy.

Shocked is an understatement.

Hopefully someone will have some words of wisdom for me

  • Hi Karen.  I was diagnosed with triple positive mucosal breast cancer 5th December 23. Two tumours in left breast.    Total shock as only had a dry nipple.
Started chemotherapy and phesgo injections on 20th December followed by mastectomy in April as the nipple was involved and I am small breasted it was always going to be mastectomy.
chemo completely resolved one tumor other was removed by surgery.

i did not have radiotherapy as no spread to lymph nodes. I am now on preventative treatment for five years.

like you I feel very fortunate that it was found and cannot thank the medical staff enough.

good luck in your recovery and feel free to ask any questions.

    Take care Xxx

  • Thank you so much for the reply. Hope you're well xx

  • Hi Karen,

yes I am doing well and my stitches are healing although still a bit of tightness. Have regained my arm movement - it is really important that you keep up any excercises they give you.

anxiety has been my worst problem however I only have 4 more injections to have so hopefully that will help.

Take care and hope all goes well for you X
