Triple negative breast cancer

Hi all,

I’ve recently been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and will be having a bilateral mastectomy on 31/12/24. Feeling very overwhelmed with all this. Emotionally a lot to get my head round.

I have a bigger lump in my left breast and mri scan showed 5 very small lumps in my right breast, lymph nodes look clear at the moment so will have a biopsy when having the mastectomy.

  • Sorry to hear and praying it should not  . Tc

  • Hi Natureg,

Sending you much love and prayers tooHeart️. The initial diagnosis part is so terrifying but once all tests are done and a treatment path decided it should get much easier to cope with. I was scared of further enlargement too but been told that short delays usually were fine. For example my chemotherapy was delayed for 3 weeks after my first cycle to allow for my liver enzyme results to go back to normal.

As regards a special diet, nothing specific was mentioned apart from generally to eat lots of fruit and vegetables. As a family we do cook from scratch 90% of the time but I have started to eat more fruit (esp blueberries, apples) and nuts/seeds  ((almonds, walnuts, dried apricots). I also try to eat a muesli each day with whole linseed kernels, milled flaxseed and a nut/seed mixture to keep the bowels moving as the chemo drugs can be very constipating (sorry if this is too icky but I thought important to mention as I underestimated the impact. The large amounts of water I drank it were not enough by itself). Would love to hear what others have been suggested?

  • Hi Txddybear

I don’t mind at all. I am on hormone treatment and I’m on Anastrozole which I’ll be taking for the next five years.

  • Hi Lou46

Sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. While chemo first is the norm with triple negative breast cancer I do know of people on here with triple negative who have had surgery first so it doesn’t always make a difference.

  • I have another medical issue which meant that the surgeon wanted to operate first rather than have chemo interrupted by treatment for the other problem.  He gave no indication that this was likely to cause any difficulties.

  • Thank you  Suz 89 Pray  feel a little reassured .

Yes the waiting is hard. It’s just that I see the change on the skin every two days and I feel too overwhelmed .

I did read that fasting clubbed with a diet of fruits and veggies helps make the cells weak ..so I have been doing that since the biopsy results came back positive . I will incorporate the nuts and seeds you mentioned along with muesli. Also thank you for bringing up constipation (not icky at all) it’s good to know anything and everything that might hit when going through this . And yes I would love to know what everyone else is doing too for diet.
More strength to everyone . I am so grateful to find this community here Pray

  • Sorry I meant a Fast mimicking diet ..
