I'm so nervous about starting hormone treatment... Such as the side affects... Any advice or experience on this type of treatment for oestrogen receptive breast cancer x
Hi
I started on Letrozole 3 months ago. My only side effects so far are slight stiffness of joints that I can walk out in the morning. Occasional night sweats.
I did have heartburn but take my omeprazole first and make sure I have some breakfast.
I hope this helps and wish you well with yours xx
Hi there, I've been on letrozole for 3 years now and apart from some joint aches now and again, I cope fine. I do take it at night, in the hope that any immediate side effects are whilst I am asleep. I also try and ask the pharmacy to be consistent with the brand as for some people a different brand can have a different side effect. Best wishes
Hi Suz84
There are lots of people who post about side effects so no wonder you are feeling nervous, it can seem that it’s a certainty it will be difficult for everyone but that’s not the case. I’ve been on Tamoxifen for six months and have no issues at all. I had a couple of days when it was tricky to concentrate and a few slightly warmer nights when I first started taking it, but that was very minor and passed quickly. I’ve also had five different brands and not noticed any difference between them at all.
Best of luck with everything. x
I'm on week 4 of tamoxifen. I feel nauseous a lot of the time, a few more headaches, constipation and the odd night sweat but my oncologist said I need to give the meds 2 to 3 months to settle (because some of the side effects might be a delayed reaction from the radiotheraphy). Have they said which type of hormone treatment you will be on?
Started tamoxifen yesterday. So hoping for a not too bumpy ride of it! Think everyone is different, so don’t go too far down google rabbit hole as that may not be your experience?! X
Hi,
I've been on tamoxifen for about a year now and so far only side effect has been body temperature going up and down. It doesn't feel much different from when I was pregnant though and has been really manageable with wearing layers than can come on and off!
I take mine in the morning. Not sure if it makes any difference but I haven't had any side effects at night xx
I was supposed to start letrazole two weeks ago but I felt so exhausted from chemo and surgery, plus my surgical wounds weren't healing as I had an allergic reaction to the steristrips and dressing. Developed a seroma and cording so I decided to give myself a break. I'm feeling stronger now and preparing to start on the 28th. I've got my first kadcyla treatment on the 31st and radiotherapy shortly after. I'm really worried about the side effects of all three and I feel a bit steam rollered into it but at the same time scared of recurrence.
