Hi all, don't know if I'm right to post here for apologies if I'm wrong
8 weeks ago I found a small lump in my left breast which felt like a grain of rice. 4 weeks ago I saw a consultant who sent me for an ultrasound, there they did core biopsies of the lump and a suspicious lymph as some looked slightly bigger. The letter to my gp said there was mass 11mm by 8mm. And the mamorgram was clear.
Since they I've not heard anything so chased it up last week and the results weren't back... In the past 2 weeks by armpit has become swollen, apparently that's normal for post biopsy but I'm concerned as took 2 week to appear.
I'm stressed because I was told the results would be back in 2-4 weeks and there not so I'm overthinking that.
Doesn't help that I already struggle with anxiety and I have autism.
Can anybody offer me advice?
Hi, I would definitely chase it up with the breast clinic or the consultant who sent you for the biopsy secretary as letters do go astray although I usually get a text message then a letter or a link to get on line letter.
my biopsy result appointment was exactly three weeks later.
ring tomorrow to check you have nothing to loose.
Good luck X
Hi Supermeg90 welcome to the forum and you have come to the right place. It's the pits waiting for results and nothing seems to make time go any quicker except to keep ourselves super busy. It sounds Like they have found something and taken a biopsy so they are being very thorough in doing these and whilst that's not much help for you hopefully they will be back soon. I don't think it's unreasonable to keep calling them about these results. I'm.wondering with the swelling under your armpit if this could be an enlarged lymph node which is not unheard of or it could be a bruise under the skin. We are here for you as and when you need us to be and I feel sure that others will be along soon to offer their thoughts as well. Sending some hugs your way meantime. X
Hi Supermeg90,
I had a lumpectomy four months ago and lymph nodes removed, I finished my radiotherapy a few weeks ago and have recently been told I am clear. I waited for three and a half weeks for my results, so it’s not unusual, however, given your other conditions I would ring them again and explain. It is a shock when you are told and it is important you take a bit of time to let it register and sink in. The strides made in modern cancer medicine these days is amazing and they can do so much for you. However, there is so much you can do for yourself too.
You have made the first big step by finding the Macmillan site, also do visit your nearest Macmillan centre, a list is on here, or ring them on 0808 808 0000, they are superbly helpful and give you lots of great info, do walks, talks, help with benefits, bills, open 10-4 Mon-Fri for coffee and chat and lots more. Please also get a good support structure in place, family, friends, good work colleagues, I’ve lived on my own for nigh on forty years, but realised you can’t do this on your own. I also go for a short walk every day (British weather permitting) and do a daily diary, this is mega helpful, as it gets everything off your chest and out of your system. It is important during the day to keep yourself occupied, hobbies, interests etc., it stops you from dwelling on what is going on. You may also find it beneficial to listen to a meditation podcast, they really help you to relax especially when you are trying to get to sleep. I use one called ‘Go Gently’ by Christine Elizabeth Smith, it does a lot for me. Whatever you do, do not visit Dr Google as there is so much conflicting information, your head will spin and it will stress you out, listen to your medical team and you get great support on.
I know it’s hard sometimes, but try and keep as positive as you possibly can, have positive people around you and dump the negativity, above all, be kind to yourself - I promise you, you will get through this. You are never alone and can always come and chat to us shower in here.
Keeping fingers and everything crossed for you.
Take care and big hugs.xxx
