Zometa and Letrozole

I had my first Zometa infusion about six weeks ago. Immediate and nasty side effects which luckily lasted less than 24 hours.
I’ve been taking Letrozole for a couple of months. No side effects at first other than some stiffening in my joints and some very minor hair loss. But… this week I’m getting blurred vision and incredible pain in my knee. The stiffening is worse too.
I’m seeing my oncologist in a week’s time. Meanwhile, I’m interested to hear from others with similar side effects. Did they get worse or wear off? After how long? Did a change of meds/manufacturer help?
Any other advice please?

  • Hi

My wife has been taking Letrozole for quite a few years now, she found accord ok but seemed to find cipla caused more problems.

There are a number of threads on this topic.

  • Hi I'm following with interest as I will commence on this in October time following my chemo and radiotherapy.

I've been reading some people appear to respond better to the accord brand than the other brand. I'm not sure if this helps but will be interested to hear.

    Take care xx

  • After a follow up appointment with my oncologist I decided to stick with letrozole for the time being. I still have the same side effects but I’m getting used to them.
The side effects from the alternatives seem to be similar so “better the devil you know”. I may change my mind if things get worse though.

  • Hi See

I have comme need my Letrozole now. I've experienced occasional nausea but now eating before I take it which seems to help. I've had occasional headaches and the hot flushes have started. Nothing major fingers crossed Fingers crossed it remains that way.

I hope your side effects subside xx
