Dear all,

Just wondering if you were able to resume driving two weeks after lumpectomy and sentinel node removal?

Also any other aftercare advice welcome. Xx

  • The hospital will advise you. I was allowed to drive after 48 hours but a friend (different hospital, different incision site) was advised to wait 2 weeks.

  • Hi,

I was told 2 weeks. I waited the 2 weeks because I could. My op was on my left side so when I did start changing gears etc I felt a bit more discomfort for a few days but it quickly settled.

    Xx

  • Thank you this is really helpful BlushHeart

  • I hadn't thought about the gears. My operation will be on the right so that's hopefully will make it easier

  • Hi

Yes you will be able to gage it yourself. But remember take your time because your still opening and shutting the doors and steering. Your body will tell you when it's okay.

Good luck, recovery for me was quite fast xx

  • I had a mastectomy and nodes clearance and drove after about 4 or 5 days, I have an automatic car so no problems with gears

  • Take it easy for a few days. No heavy lifting etc

small heart shape cushion for under arm useful because apart from anything it makes you remember not to use that arm for a bit

    do the exercises

i found it no really big deal at all. Just a bit tired that could be the G A and / or the general stress!!
