Hi, I have recently finished 6 months of neo adjuvant Chemo for TNBC (also have hormone sensitive in other breast). I was generally very positive throughout this but now finished and having surgery this week.
I am suddenly feeling really low, had thought i should be feeling great but not sure what has happened. Anyone else experienced this?
Hi Cayenne, Sorry to hear how you're feeling. I had a mastectomy in March followed by Chemotherapy then Radiotherapy. I was put onto Letrozole early as I was taken off chemo as it affected my lungs and I under up in hospital. I felt great in September before starting radio but I've not got Radiotherapy tiredness and I've been put on abemaciclib which has its own side effects. I'm feel really low at the moment tried shaking it but I'm so tired. I'm hoping once my body adjusts I will start to feel better. Good luck with your surgery and just keep talking
Hi Cayenne,
I understand this, I had 6 months of chemo, followed by a double mastectomy and reconstruction on 1st September. Ended up with an infection and had to have another 2 surgeries. I was positive all the way through until a couple of weeks ago. I reached out to my GP and local nhs talking therapy services, I’ve now been put on low dose antidepressants for severe anxiety and I’m waiting to start cognitive behavioural therapy.
You have been through a lot and need time to heal, there is plenty of support here if you are struggling, please feel to message me if you want to talk ️ I understand how difficult it can be

Hi musicmumma, thank you for your reply. I think one of the issues is I have been having immunotherapy alongside chemo and this has given ven me mild inflammation of my Airways which has then been exacerbated by a recent cold. I am coughing a lot but pretty sure I don't have an infection. I am due surgery on weds (lumpectomies both breasts) and don't want to have it postponed, need to get these out, so this is on my mind, also worried about what radiotherapy is going to do to my breasts.
Just having a low day today and not sure why . I have a great husband and family but don't always want to burden them, usually try to keep cheerful.
I hope you start to feel better soon, it's so hard isn't it, people think you have finished chemo so over the worst but that's not the case. Good luck x
Hi Bert 83
Thank you for your reply. You have been through a lot, hope you start feeling a bit better soon as you recover.
I think I'm just having a down day for some reason, probably anxiety re cough for surgery and uncertainty that they will still be able to do it.
Take care of yourself x
It’s good that you can share that you are feeling low. We want to feel as good as possible don’t we, and keep positive but I don’t think we have to look far to find a host of reasons why we can’t keep it up all the time. It will pass. Try to stay accepting of it, and relaxed, so it can wash over you as soon as possible xx
Thank you everyone for your support. Surgery done and all going well and I feel a lot better now. Sore and tired but path results OK in a few weeks and can move onto the next chapter of radiotherapy.
Still got another 6 months of immunotherapy to complete but hopefully everything finished by next summer and pray no recurrence.
Good luck everyone with your own journeys, prayers and love xx
