Hi All,
I was diagnosed with grade 3 invasive ductal breast cancer back in March, just after I turned 50. After a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, I have now been on Anastrozole for around 5 weeks. My side effects aren't debilitating, I get hot flushes and aching joints and muscles, my skin is very rough (but I'm unsure if this is a result of my hair growing back or the meds) and my feet and big toes feel odd (but I think this is due to nerve issues after docetaxel). My question to the group is what successes have people had with different brands of anastrozole? Also, my pharmacy has said they can only supply me with one brand as the others are too expensive. Any help or advice would be appreciated x
Hi SLI, whilst I can’t comment of different brands of Anastrozole (although I have heard people react differently to different brands) I have tamoxifen and have found different brands affect me differently. I have tried a few so I can have options in case the pharmacy can’t get the usual brand. However so far only one option is ok for me to tolerate. I will continue to try.
I too had some issues with nerve damage in my toes and feet after docetaxel. I have seen a consultant who has given me some lidocaine plasters and Doxepin cream. These have both helped and I now find I no longer need them, although I still have some left if ever I need them.
Wishing you all the best
