Hi..I haven’t been diagnosed with breast cancer yet and I had a mammogram last November that was normal…but a couple of months ago, my nipples on both breasts were really painful, so I took my bra off to see if there was something causing the pain and noticed there was a hard dark red nodule on the side of the right nipple almost covering the center of the nipple. No discharge is coming from the nipple. I saw my Dr.,and he took a look at it, and said it kinda looked like it was coming from underneath the nipple. He ordered a diagnostic mammogram, and that is scheduled for the 20th of Dec…I was just wondering if maybe someone has heard of this on the nipple or has had this themselves. Thank You!

  • I had actual bleeding from the nipple - light but left small stains on my bra. Fingers crossed yours is nothing to worry about. I haven’t seen it listed as a possible symptom but it’s right to get it checked. That’s quite a long wait so maybe see that as a good sign ie he’s not overly concerned.

  • Thank you for the fingers crossed..Actually the VA does it differently..You go through Community Care through the VA, and are seen at a place that does mammograms close to where you live, so the Dr. at the VA has no say. When I called to make an appt, they did say that I could be seen sooner, it just depends on where I am on the list. I’m not having any discharge, but nipples ache alot, and I get some burning and prickly sensation. Did you have those sensations?

  • No I didn’t have any burning or prickling or aching. Nothing really - just little blood drops. I googled it and could see immediately it was potentially breast cancer. I didn’t want to believe it and kept hoping while waiting for appointment that it would just be something and nothing. Unfortunately I was wrong. It could be worse. I didn’t need chemo or hormone treatment. Mastectomy with radiotherapy is bad enough. Just waiting patiently for the morning I wake up and not immediately be reminded through discomfort and tightness that I am ‘in the club’! Hope it turns out well for you.
