Hi I'm almost 4 weeks post bilateral mastectomy and would like advice on what moisturiser is best for scars

  • Hello Lana

Please accept my apologies in not replying to your question.   I have been away and Internet etc signal was "hit and miss".

The creams recommended to me were either E45 or Aveeno.   I opted for Aveeno because it is more fluid in texture and massages in and also I had no staining on my clothes.   I love it.

I still massage twice a day but I too have hard areas which will not soften.   My scar is an almond shape.  I have no nipples...all that was cut out on both breasts due to necrosis also.   Awaiting to see surgeon next month...12 weeks post operations and will discuss the hard areas.

May I ask, do you have any feeling in your breast and tummy...mine I cannot feel at all not even around the new tummy button created for me?   Is this normal?

I wish you evety success in your recovery.   As I often say, it is baby steps.

    All the very best.

  • Hi,

I'm nearly 2 weeks post mastectomy, I'm curious when I can start using cream on my scar. I have aveeno in preparation.

    Thank you

  • I have been using Active Silver for years now and asked them if their Body Butter was suitable for Cancer Patients and in particular for scarring help.  Their response and advice :

"it has Colloidal Silver to help ensure any wounds are kept clean but also Colloidal Gold which is very good for the scarring and healing"

I used this after the biopsy in my breast and it healed much more quickly and minimised the itchy healing feeling.

I will be using it when I have my operation in 2024.

Apologies for the late reply, I am fairly new to the forums.
