Hi. It's my first post and I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last August. I had my right breast removed plus 27 lymph nodes in October, followed by 12 cycles of chemotherapy  and I've just finished 15 rounds of radiotherapy. I've suffered from restless legs on and off for years but now, with the peripheral neuropathy in my feet as a result of the chemo, my restless legs are much worse, resulting in broken nights sleep every night. I imagine I'm not the only person suffering from this, so can anyone pass on success they have had remedying the restless legs? I would love you forever!!!!

I'm currently trying rubbing magnesium cream into my feet and calves, but only done it for 2 nights so no change so far. Thanks.

  • Mini me I can sympathise 100% here. Struggled on and off for years but worse with treatment. I’m on amitryptilline for my neuropathy so kinda helps legs too. I’ve tried magnesium rub but prickles my skin so sometimes put it on soles alone. I’ve tried vics vapour rub and sometimes helps. I’ve taken magnesium citrate and glycinate too. Brufen I’ve also tried. Many things and help to some extent. I’ve now started getting reflexology and leg massages. Expensive as I’m going once a week but therapist seems to think it will help.
some ideas for you to consider. Yoga stretches are good, just Google them x

    • Hi Mini me,, just a thought but my mothrr suffered from restless legs when she had MND. She was advised to drink tonic water and the quinine contaied really helped. So treat yourself to a G and T. Hope this id.s useful x
  • I have read that somewhere too,

Has anyone tried ESM foot massager? Maybe worth asking Dr or reflexologist if of any benefit.

    just a thought.

  • Hi, sorry to jump on this post, I'm suffering with slight neuropathy on soles of feet and the chemo has left my muscles in my legs sore and achy to the point when I flex my thigh muscles they hurt and after I've been on walk or even walk upstairs it's a struggle. I have suffered on and off over the years with aching leg muscles. I'm thinking now, reading this post, that the neuropathy has made it worse. I am just over 4 weeks post chemo, I know it's just a short time from finishing treatment but if I'm gonna be suffering long term any suggestions on how to relieve symptoms is great.

    Thank you xx

  • I also suffer with restless legs and for me eating a banana every night stops it. Hope this helps. PS I  don't really like bananas.

  • Hi All, also suffering from neuropathy in tips of hands , toes and balls of my feet. I have been prescribed neurobion by my oncologist (vitamin mix that helps with nerve damage) I think it’s helping. I am 5.5 months post chemo and feel tgats it’s getting better, for anyone who lost feeling in their arm post mastectomy that’s also back, mostly. I also take vitamin D3 and epsom salt baths before bed

  • Hi, someone else a couple of months ago was complaining about restless legs too, I suffer on occasions and more just recently but I buy a magnesium spray from Holland and Barrett by Better You. It’s a pump spray of magnesium, lavender and chamomile called Magnesium Sleep. It’s not a particularly large spray, about £10 but you don’t need much, I just spray on two or three times and rub it in on my thighs and calf .

  • Hi, I have always suffered on occasions but worse just lately. I use a magnesium spray from Holland and Barrett recommended by a friend, it’s called Magnesium Sleep by Better You. It’s magnesium, labe nder and chamomile. Not a big spray for about £10 but lasts a fair while. Usually spray abit on my hands and rub into length of legs concentrating on thighs and calves, bad nights it’s ankles and buttocks too ! Works for me and bliss to get rid of the awful jitters x

  • Face palm sorry! Didn’t think that had posted first time !

  • Thank you for your advice. I'll certainly give the stretches a go. X
