Hi ya I’ve just undergone 4 rounds of A/C Chemo and I’m just about to start the next 4 sessions which are to include Trastuzumab has anybody taken this as part of their treatment? If so did you get any side effects? Thanks
Hi J sorry not been on here for a while I’m finding this last lot of chemo docetaxel, the herceptin injections and the Zarzio stomach injections really hard side effects not good aching all over like flu symptoms and bad stomach causing cramps and runny tummy sorry to be so graphic so I’ve been ill more than well, thankfully only 1 more chemo to go then MRI then surgery. How’s things with you? K
Hi K glad to hear from you. Like you I have really struggled with the paclitaxel and the 3 weekly injection in my leg. I have had various side effects lie terrible mouth ulcers, swelling in my legs and needing to have a blood transfusion and my bloods all being on the very low side, so much so that at an mdt meeting they have decided to stop my chemo and I am o from pathology.n the waiting list for surgery now and may get more chemo after depending on results. It sounds like you are really struggling with it too. I hope you manage to get through your last round and get to surgery. Sending you a big hug J. We can do this together. Jxxx
Hi J thanks for your reply sorry your struggling as well this chemo business and meds is not an easy journey to travel I’m trying to stay positive but some days I struggle I don’t think I’ve ever felt this ill for so long in my life I’m just counting down the days until 1st July which is my last chemo I’ve got an MRI next Tuesday so hopefully lump will have shrunk again I’ve then got a transvaginal scan on 25th June (my birthday) to check on the cysts and fibroids in my womb then chat with my consultant on 6th July to talk about what surgery is needed so just getting through each day, what’s your next step then since chemo no go for now what surgery do you need have you spoken to your specialist yet? thank you yes We can do this together, K xxx
Hi K,it is certainly not a club we want to be in. We have both have passengers we want to kick off the train and claim our bodies back but it's been a hell of a journey to get there. We know the chemo is nescessary but it makes you feel so unwell and you wonder if you can survive the next cycle and we do. It's a shame that your transvaginal scan falls on your Birthday I know you would rather be somewhere else that day I really hope your cysts and fibroids are not any worse as you have more than enough to cope with getting towards your surgery. Just one more round for you to go until your final chemo Hun. I have inflammatory breast cancer and I really wish that I had been able to have more chemo before surgery to clear out my nodes but because they are still suspicious they have to give me full axillary clearance and a mastectomy with no reconstruction. I may also have to have further chemo depending on the results and i will continue with the herceptin injections for a year which i'm really pleased about as I know it stops fuelling the cancer and radiation and 10 years of oestrogen tablets too so treatment doesn't really end for a long time but I am gratetful that it is all being done to keep me alive. It sounds like you are going to be in it for the long haul too Hun. Have they been able to give you an idea what your next steps may be as far as surgery or is that depending on your MRI? Sending you a big hug K I will be thinking of you. Jxxx
