Hi ya I’ve just undergone 4 rounds of A/C Chemo and I’m just about to start the next 4 sessions which are to include Trastuzumab has anybody taken this as part of their treatment? If so did you get any side effects?  Thanks

  • Did your heart right itself afterwards? I went for a heart scan in December and it was working at 68% which I was told is normal. I've got another scan on Tuesday so I'm hoping it's still all good.

Did you have any indication that your heart wasn't functioning properly?

Hiya, i had one or two side effects from Trastuzumab / herceptin of which i had for 1 yr and finished in Feb.  I found I was getting joint aches in the knees (at night) and also insomnia.  The site of  the injection would also turn red and be a bit itchy for the first day or two.  I would see what looked like a large circle but I was told this was normal.  You will probably be sent for heart scans every 3months to check there is no impact to the muscles. To be honest if you can withstand chemo side effects then this you may not even feel / have any side effects!  Good luck!

  • Hi, I had Herceptin 5 years ago with FEC-T . Only s/e for me was a runny nose. But because of chemo hairloss, no nasal hairs to slow it down, so my nose would suddenly stream, always keep tissues handy! Thumbsup I was Grade 3:E & Her2+: inv ductal ca & dcis, being 5 years on feels like a huge milestone TadaTada Good luck with your treatment & take care x

  • Zaw thank you for your reply

  • WarmAuburn thank you for your reply I’m getting the runny nose already after chemo it’s weird having no nasal hair lol.  5 years on well done you it’s a massive milestone fingers crossed I will get to that.  Xxx

  • Janicol good luck today I will be thinking of you xxx

  • Thank you Hun. I had a bit of a problem getting the picc line in but they got it in after 3 and a half hours. I would advise that you make sure that the phesgo injection goes in slowly as mine went in a little too fast and she had to slow it down as it is a large ammount going in subcutaneous but when it was slower it was much easier . I will let you know in 2-3days how i get on with the paclitaxel too and any side effects. Thanks for asking. When do you start yours? Jxxx

  • Janicol glad it didn’t go too bad my veins were amazing before chemo now they have problems every time my next chemo with Trastuzumab included is this coming Friday I’ve got 4 sessions then injeFingers crossed tone2ns I think after. I had an MRI on Tuesday just waiting on the results to see that the chemo is doing its job and having some affect fingers crossed Fingers crossed tone2 xxx

  • I really hope your mri scan shows that your chemo is doing it's job . Waiting on the results is the worst thing. I will keep everything crossed for you Hun. I have felt a bit stunned today and I have the feeling of mild burning in my feet tonight.. Will keep you posted Hun. Let me know when you get your results through. Jxxx
