Hi, I was diagnosed with grade 2 invasive globular cancer and 2 separate DCIS. Had therapeutic angioplasty on December 14th and due to start 5 sessions of radiotherapy on 10th March. Any advice on creams or hold to use during/ after radiotherapy? I will have to wait at least 6 months to have the other breast reduced but suspect the wait may be a lot longer!

  • Goodness I hate autocorrect! It was a lobular cancer and a therapeutic mammoplasty!

  • Hello Lizzie, welcome, and don't worry about the autocorrect, I knew what you meant Relaxed  I'm waiting for radiotherapy too, and will be having 5 sessions plus 5 booster sessions starting on the 24th Feb. Have you had a radiotherapy planning meeting yet, where they measure you up? I went to mine last week and the staff said that they would provide Enopen cream on the first day but also recommended a few other creams to use. They said these should be used sparingly, twice a day, although I'm sure that others may recommend different creams too: Oilatum cream, E45 cream, Simple hydrating light moisturiser, Boots derma care daily moisturiser, Dr Organic aloe vera gel, Aveeno daily moistuirising lotion.  I'm going to stick with Aveeno to start with as my skin is sensitive and I used that throughout chemo without any problems. Good luck with your radiotherapy and the rest of your treatment, although the waiting is the worse! x

It's also worth taking a look at the Radiotherapy thread here as lots of advice and support there from others that have had, or are going through, radiotherapy:  community.macmillan.org.uk/.../december-2021-january-february-2022-breast-cancer-radiotherapy

  • Thank you! The waiting is the worst, every stage has a wait before it starts . Then I will have the wait for the reduction in the other breast. Still, at least the cancer was found and treated. Thank goodness for routine mammograms.
