Hi, I've been struggling with Tamoxifen side effects, feeling very low and anxious. A specialist nurse confirmed it can cause these side effects, as well as all the other lovely menopausal symptoms, hot flushes, night sweats and memory problems.

I've been doing a bit of research today on high doses of Omega 3 , Vitamin D helping with mood. Going to run it by my doc tomorrow, just wondering if anyone's had any joy with any of these supplements helping?

Would also like to research 5HTP!

Many thanks ...any advise would be so appreciated or if you can point me to a thread !

  • Following hoping to read answers to your question. I too have read this. Hoping it won't conflict my chemo as they're also good for bone strength and immune system.

When you're going through hell, don't stop!

  • Not sure if helping my innards but I started taking a multi vitamin. Oped for a bassets 50+ chewy muti vitamin (although I'm only 49 and I struggle to swallow pills). For me its a combination of trying to eat more healthily,  exercise (struggling with that one!) and building my immune system up. I got advise from pharmacist. Are you aware all Boots pharmacist have Macmillan training now? Worth quizzing them too. Haven't tried anything else x

  • Hi Can you help me out ? Do you remember who and what recommended CBD oil / capsules . I might try x

  •      Yes it was advice given to  so it will either be on the Awake thread or moomy's one which is 'i think I'm a patient now.' I think the recommendation was oil or drops - a link was given but you can buy online and health shops. Must be a week ago maybe. I'd try those two sites first. If its not either of those two shout and I can help search. Good luck x

  • Thank you . I am feeling awful . My body aches so much and my oncologist said it can’t be the RT after effects .
Think I will try CBD .
    xx

  • Isn’t just lovely when the onco dismisses your symptom without giving a helping hand . At least mine will look it up whilst I’m there

Best one was when I said Herceptin can cause vertigo ( which was suffering from ) first response was hadn’t heard of that but looked on computer and confirm it could lol Joy

Hope you feel better soon it’s so debilitating isn’t it . I’m so sick of aches and pains and tiredness . Absolutely did not feel age at diagnosis 3yr ago now I’m in no doubt I’m getting older

  • Hi TiredMinion

I didn't know that about Boots being Macmillan trained, good to know! Thank you : )

  • Hi PenelopeJ57

Aw sorry to hear you're in so much pain with body aches.

I was getting aches and pains from being perimenopausal ,prior to cancer diagnosis and my mum recommended  taking glucosamine with chondrointin, which she's taken for years with great success. It definitely helped me and so far haven't had any joint pain whilst on Tamoxifen. Only been on since 20th December, so not sure if it's early days?

I thought I read somewhere that CBD interacts with Tamoxifen?....if anyone can confirm this isn't true or has been given the ok by their oncologist , that would be great to know as it's supposed to help with anxiety !

Hope you fidn something that helps!

  • Yes I've been on strong multivitamins for years ,as well as Evening Primrose , Omega 3 6 9 and more recently Glucosamine with Chondroiton. I definitely think they helped with Perimenopause mood and are hopefully helping now, dread to think what I migth be like without them lol.

I'm still struggling with motivcating myself to go out for a walk too. I saw a great thread before about 'walking back to happiness" might be worth joining !?
