Hi all,

i was diagnosed back in September and I’ve had a mastectomy on the left breast at the beginning of November. I’m due back in for more surgery on Monday to remove the lymph nodes… chemotherapy is planned for the new year but I don’t have a date yet.

it’s only the start but it feels like a lot already.

  • It is a lot, well done for getting this far, chemo is doable, with modern drugs most side effects can be controlled and you will not get all the side effects.  When you know your chemo drugs post here and some amazing women will be able to offer you advice on those drugs.  One day at a time, you are not alone.  love from Ann

    Hi Ann,

thank you for your words. Chemo is very daunting for me. I saw my mother go through it 20 years ago, and even though things have changed, I’m afraid to suffer like she did.i will definitely reach out once I know more. Marion

  • We all the same I finished chemo in July and i already forgot about it, like nothing happened. I was so afraid but now it makes me smile. You in very safe hands thats the most important, but this road not easy but doable. Keep strong xZ

  • Hi Maza

Like you I have also had mastectomy, at times it makes me sad for what I have loss. How are you recovering after op? Wishing you best if luck for Monday's op...I have a couple of my nodes removed and one is affected. Afterwards I felt puffy underarm and it gets sticky. Hopefully you won't be too uncomfortable.

Awaiting on chemo now and probably in the new year too like you.

You are right..u have come so far. But as we go through each phase hopefully we can give each other strength and keep cheering each other on in not so good days if any. I still cry at times but slowly embracing the new me.

Keep talking here, you have all the lovely ladies' support here , and they're super helpful and will keep you company through it all.

    Thank you Anna

  • Hi i had a mastectomy end of September then my lymph nodes removed after having found stage 3 cancer. Luckily they were clear ..but they said I need chemotherapy as I have 50/50 chance of it coming back but I've opted not to have the chemotherapy. Feel like I'm the odd one out on here most people are having it. ..but I feel I've made the right decision for me.

  • Hey AJ

You need to just make a decision you are comfortable with for yourself.

If given choice really no one wants to go for chemo, but that's a weigh up with chance of reoccurrence.

No right or wrong, but we are responsible for our own health.
