Hi Everyone

I just wanted to share a quick update on where I am at. Diagnosed at the end of June, Stage 3 Her2+ invasive ductal cancer of left breast. Started chemo, EC in July to shrink tumour followed by weekly paclitaxal aim was to shrink the tumour. Ultrasound half way through and told no change in size and this was so very concerning as I was so convinced tge treatment was working! Last chemo Nov as my liver was not happy (missed 3 weeks of paclitaxal in total) and then mastectomy with sentinel node clearance and 2 lymph nodes removed for biopsy, 8 nodes in total checked. Results received today, show full pathological result, no cancer found! Anywhere i will start radiotherapy in new year once drain removed and continue herceptin for 12 cycles.
I wanted to thank all the wonderful people on this site for helping me when I was worried or just wanted a few answers from those in same/similar position as I was. It’s been a tough few months but I couldn’t be happier and wanted to say don’t lose faith if your tumour doesn’t appear to be responding, mine was large and took its time to be killed off but the chemo did its job.
Chemo has been my friend along with all the wonderful Drs and nurses who did their job and more. I will be more grateful than they will ever know.

xx

  • Hello Rumple

I am so pleased to hear your news that your BC cells have been killed off.

    Excellent!

Onward you go. Do you know yet if you will be given anti HER2 targeted therapy like e.g. Herceptin?

Wishing you all the best. I feel your relief.

    Big virtual hugs

Must be such a worrying time for you - its one of the things I'm worried about chemo, if other organs will be impacted!! BUT so pleased you got the result you wanted. You're so strong to keep going despite it all, must have been such a difficult time for you, I cannot imagine your stress levels...so chuffed you're out the other side and then onward to RT!

  • Thanks a lot , yes it’s a fine line we are all walking. One of the difficult things was feeling well before diagnosis abd then starting treatment and feeling worse Upside down. Heart scans seem to be going ok so far and the cardiologist has said on his experience if herceptin is going to cause you problems it happens pretty fast so I am hopeful. Now I’m back to my normal battle of dieting JoyJoyJoy

  • I’m on herceptin too, does it make you ache?? I’m not sure if I’m aching still cause of chemo of aching cause of herceptin. And I feel the diet pain too, says she sat next to a bucket of m&s mini rolls!! See no evil

Haha its funny isn't it. I am so worried as I cannot afford to lose weight whilr some others want to...Not sure what ladies encounter with herceptin but was told by onco that girls put on weight so not sure what to believe!
