Hi Eveyone
I'm new to the forum. I found out that I had breast cancer in June and my life has never changed so much. I have had a lumpectomy and then had to have a further margin removed. Consultant advises that the cancer has gone but having chemo followed by radiotherapy as a belt and braces job. I had my first cycle on 9 November. Now I know what to look forward to I won't be as apprehensive next time.
I kept a diary of side effects and how I was feeling each day, and then what I'd managed to do, like go for a walk etc. It really helped me to remember what to expect each cycle. Good luck with the rest of your treatment
Hi Nadine239 thank you for posting this. I am one week ahead of you with starting the chemo and agree with what you say as my experience is much the same as yours. My next chemo is tomorrow and I am not too worried about it. My Oncologist told me that side effects will not necessarily increase with each treatment so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I feel a bit sad at present as my hair is gradually falling out and have taken the decision to have what’s left cut off on Saturday. I hope to feel more in control once I have done this but not really sure how I will feel then.
Good luck with your ongoing treatment x
Beat the Breast
Thank you for your reply. I've kept a journal since I was recalled after my routine mammogram. I knew from the additional scans and having a biopsy that something wasn't right. It is a good thing to do as you can put into writing how you feel both physically and mentally. I would recommend to everybody starting on this "journey".
Hi Queen Poppy
Thank you for replying. Good luck for tomorrow. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I don't about you but it was the waiting for anything to happen once I registered at the Chemo suite. They were running late which didn't help. Luckily there were a few talkative women there so that helped to distract me. x
Thank you. We will get through this and come out the other end stronger x
