Hi there, I am new to this group too.
Diagnosed with ductal carcinoma grade3. I've had my lumpectomy and sentinel node removed and I got results on Thursday to say nodes are clear, have to go back into hospital on Monday for another op called cavity shave as the tissue from outer margins are precancerous..has anyone else had the test Octotype done to see if you need chemo. I will get this result in 2 weeks time. Has anyone got away with no chemo on a grade 3 Estrogen positive..thanks and good luck to all of you ive been reading some of your stories.xx
I was diagnosed following a routine mammogram last November with stage 2 ductal carcinoma, oestrogen receptive HER negative, grade 2. I had a lumpectomy & sentinel node surgery which showed no spread but because my tumour was slightly bigger than they expected I was offered an OncoTypeDX test to determine whether chemotherapy would benefit me. One of my margins wasn’t clear so had second op which was successful. My recurrence score came back at 9 so chemo would not benefit me. I was prescribed Letrezole for the next 5 years and following. 5 days of Radiotherapy was discharged with an ‘open appointment’ which means any problems or issues I have I can go straight to the breast care dept rather than going through my GP. I am due my first mammogram at the end of November which is the anniversary of my first operation. I have been told I am in remission.
I had 5 days of radiotherapy last week. I haven't started the medication yet - going back to oncologist mid November to sort that out, I think the grade 3 definition is quite scary but I'm trying to be optimistic that if it's caught early it needn't be so awful xx
Yes I think your right, it is the grade 3 that's worrying me. I'm trying to stay positive and doing well so far. I think I'm reading too much about it so I'll stop that now and just listen to the Drs when I go for my results..Hope your doing OK after radiotherapy xx
