    Hi Papalon

  • Hey papa. I am sorry you find yourself here...you are at a stage that many of us have gone through. So unfair, unreal, devastation, shock, tears free flowing, many dark places. Nothing seems to make u happy and u question you ever will be. No appetite, can't sleep. Of coz you're bound to go through all these...that makes you human!

So when all that is done. You read more you digest more and the world becomes a less scary and frightening place because you find you don't walk alone in this journey! Then u slowly put on your boxing gloves and get ready to get into the ring!

No one can tell what tomorrow holds. Take comfort you have today and that you can solve what you can today...there is a saying isn't there? Take a step at a time.

Trust in the medicine and your medical team. And maybe us here to cry and laugh with you. ((Hugs))

  • Hi Papalon well done for finding this group, when you know which chemo drugs you are getting post here and some amazing women with experience of those drugs will offer you supprt and advice.  Chemo is not as bad as it's press, the side effects sound awfull but hang onto the fact that no-one gets all of the side effects.  You are in a very scary place but before you know it you will be joining the women on here that support other women starting thier cancer journey.  One day at a time, you can do this.  Love from Ann

Thank you all for the supportive messages. I was diagnosed 1 year to the day the my nana lost her battle with bowel cancer. There seems to be a lot to get my head around. I’m used to looking after people not the one being looked after

Yes so much to come to terms with , remember that breast cancer has a very high cure rate. They will throw everything at it so that you make a good recovery . Take each day as it comes don't be tempted to Google stuff as it's often very out of date and nothing on Google  will relate to your specific cancer. It's going to be a rollercoaster of a ride but you are  on the cancer train now and the journey to full recovery begins. Be prepared for things to move fast ,  By next year you will have surgery maybe some other treatment and you will be good to go in the spring.  We will all walk  this journey with you . Remember this is the hard time the early days it gets much easier as you go along

  • Two things that helped me from a practical point of view. A tiny diary for my pocket to write appointments in and keep track... Easier than the diary on the phone. A note pad/ journal to jot down thoughts feelings etc. Good and bad. It helps ' download' stress and records good days too. Helps you look for patterns in your treatment so you know which days you will be feeling well and which days you might want to plan a duvet day! Good luck you've got this.
