Hi everyone.  I've just signed up here wanting to share my anxieties over my recent mammogram findings.  I have what they call calcification and I'm due to get my results tomorrow.   I'm a bit scared.  Does anyone else have had an experience with this?  I've never heard of calcification before.  I've read up about it but don't know anyone who's had it.

I appreciate your replies and thank you in advance.

  • Hello and welcome to the forum, i had this in 2016 where i was sent for a vacuum biopsy. The results were everything had been sorted and i was clear. Yes i can understand that your very anxious, i was too.. But this year i had a lump in the same breast, no clue if it was to do with the calcification..

Hope everything goes ok for you.. x

I was recalled for further assessment after a routine mammogram in 2012 revealed calcium deposits. They looked again more carefully at the deposits in my breasts (ultrasound, more sophisticated mammogram) and gave me the all clear. What was good was they had something to compare it to each time  I had further (3 yearly) routine mammograms - and I didn't get recalled again (until this year when they were concerned about a lump they found).  Hope it all goes well for you. I'm sure there are many people who get recalled for this, and nothing else happens; it's only the ones who develop breast cancer who make entries in this forum!

Hi Persiepixie.  Thank you for your message.  I hope the lump they recently found will be benign too.  It's scary stuff we women have to go through.  I'm grateful that we're being closely monitored though.  Xx

  • A friend of mine recently was told she had calcification in her breast but on investigation they said they weren’t concerned and have discharged her from the clinic, I hope you have the same outcome, best of luck x

    Hi Margaret

    Thank you.

I'm reporting back about my appointment yesterday.   My diagnosis is pre-invasive cancer and will need surgery within a month.  I'm somehow relieved that they caught it early and they are very keen to get the cancer cells removed ASAP.  The treatment after surgery isn't determined yet.  It all depends on what they'll find after a closer look at the cells.  I'll report back ...

Hope you're keeping well and continue to enjoy life.

    Angeline  xx

  • Hi Flora 1965.

Now that you have a diagnosis, you should feel slightly better. You know what you've got to deal with.

I had the same diagnosis and I had my surgery on the 8th. I feel okay, apart from some swelling and discomfort.

Waiting for a date for radiotherapy now. Feeling well o the way to a full recovery.

Wishing you well with your surgery and continued journey.

    Sue. X
