Hi Talbot No need to worry. The scan before rads is a quick one to immediate area. The purpose is to measure all the points accurately so the radiographers can work out areas and angles of treatment.

Hi there, just a quick mention that there's a radiotherapy thread on here too.   It's full of really useful info and expert advice. Worth a look.  Don't worry about the scan, it's really straightforward and no tunnels!

For my CT scan they used a machine that looked like a doughnut, it wasn't a tunnel. It only scanned my chest area. I lay down and the ring moved back and forth a bit, a bit like a magician moving a hoop around an elevated body.

Where can I find this thread please as waiting for mine to start. This I'm more worried about, than the lumpectomy.

The ct scanners used for radiotherapy planning are called wide bore scanners as they have bigger hole in order to scan patients with their arms up so they are less claustrophobic than normal scanners.
