Intermediate DCIS and a mastectomy. Gone from waiting weeks between each biopsy, redo biopsy and feeling quite slow to

‘here’s your date, mastectomy in ten days and here’s a boob paD to look at’. Most surprising was having a groin swab which I didn’t even know was a thing.  Feels a bit like running down hill in high heels.
can’t access the emotion yet. Feels like it’s a wave which isn’t ready to come yet.

thanks for reading. No particular question yet but already been nice to read how many people have been through same x

Sorry to read about the sudden rush to surgery - that's not a lot of time to get your head round it.
(I haven't been in your exact shoes but do find the timings of appointments and results incredibly random and never fitting with what I have been told to expect!)
Did anyone tell you what the groin swab was for?
Are you seeing anyone pre-op to discuss post-op care? (I ask this because I assumed this would happen automatically and I got absolutely none despite asking re exercises.etc)
Your phrase, "Feels like it’s a wave which isn’t ready to come yet." strikes a chord - I feel as if I sleep-walked through the whole pre-op and operation stages and only now, having results, am I starting to feel emotions again.
I hope all goes well for you and you have a straightforward recovery.

I had armpit and groin swabs for MRSA prior to isolation before my surgery. I also had to use a special decontamination lotion to wash with during this time to prevent the possibility of spreading MRSA. All sounded very sci-fi!

Gosh, sounds as if you must have been treated during an MRSA outburst> I found it weird enough wearing a mask without having to endure your sci-fi scenario.
