Procedure reccommations
ive been diagnosed with breast cancer stage 2 have been advised to have mastectomy and lymph nodes out
either back flap or tummy tuck procedure for reconstructing I’d be grateful for any advice or for any information from anyone who’s had either procedure done
im a hairdresser so am worried about if the back flap could impact movement of my arm and shoulder
Just saw your post and wanted to say hi. I too have been diagnosed with grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma with dcis and postive lymph node. I am having mastectomy and axillary clearance on Friday. I have been advised diep reconstruction would be best for me but due to having to be referred to another hospital for this procedure means going on a waiting list, I am going to have it done after my cancer treatment. Hopefully someone on this forum has had it done and can give you some info. Take care x
Hi it’s pants isn’t it
i can have surgery in same hospital at same time but would have to wait for the plastic surgeon so have decided to go ahead with mastectomy and then potentially have reconstruction at a later date
can I ask why they have advised diep in particular?
Hi, my breast consultant said due to my breasts being on the larger size that an implant would not match my other breast and may look awful, but because I have enough belly fat, the plastic surgeons could make a really good breast for me. The issue I have is that I have waited 10 weeks to get to where I am now, and being told yesterday my lymph node biopsy was positive, mentally I don't think I could wait another 6 weeks before any time of surgery/treament, so decided cancer treatment first and reconstruction later x
When I was in clinic yesterday the consultant asked if Friday was too soon for mastectomy and did I want more time and be booked in for a week Friday, but the way I look at it is by a week Friday I will be 1 week into recovery. Mastectomy is the only option as have too many cancer cells in upper breast, so I just have to go for it.
You will make the correct decision for you x
