I can’t find my original post. I’d found a lump and was waiting for my appointment for mammogram. I’ve been to my appointment and had ultrasound, mammogram, biopsy with a marker put in and another mammogram.

The doctor said he has mixed feelings about it and can’t be sure until he’s had my results back. He told me not to worry and that it was common practice for what he did today. Mammogram was clear but ultrasound suspicious. He said I have a lot of dense tissue making it difficult.

Results in person on October 18th. Absolutely petrified xx

  • I was told that some breasts are dense and lumpy and although that’s nothing to do with cancer it can make spotting it harder. Great that you found the lump and they were straight onto it - there are some types of cancer which don’t show up well in mammograms but they tend to be earlier ones, I’m told. Fingers crossed for next week, but whatever the results sounds like you’re in good hands

Fingers crossed. He scanned lymph nodes which were clear too so hoping it’s localised should it be something sinister xx

  • Keeping it all crossed for you . Waiting is awful isint it ? Whatever the outcome you can be sure to get the right support here . Never feel alone .
    Peace

  • The waiting for results is the worst part and nothing anyone can do to make you feel better! I found a lump, mammogram didn't see anything as I have dense breasts, but ultrasound spotted it easily. I was told at breast clinic that I likely had cancer and was taken into a room to talk to the breast cancer nurse. Biopsy results confirmed it a week later.

It is a terrifying time but stick in there, you don't know anything until you know what you're dealing with and your mind can go crazy thinking of all the What Ifs.

I'm through treatment now and loving life again. I was diagnosed last August.

Thank you. Can I ask did you have a lumpectomy? X

  • Yes , lumpectomy. I had chemo first, then lumpectomy then Radiotherapy and now 5 years of hormone treatment. Mine was on my chest wall so they wanted to shrink it first (which they did)
