Hi I'm new here and recently diagnosed with lobular and ductal tumours in both breasts so will be having a double masectomy. Recent CT scan was clear which was a relief but they picked up an ovarian cyst. I had a pelvic scan at weekend and am now quite worried about the results. Has anyone else had this?
Hi it just so happens that I had an ovarian cyst earlier this year and had an internal ultrasound the day after my breast cancer diagnosis for it, it was picked up on a CT scan I had because they though I may have kidney stones. Anyway fast forward and I found out I had lobular breast cancer. The ovarian cyst had disappeared by the time I had the ultrasound, did they give you any idea on the weekend of whether it was still there? I haven’t completely gone through menopause yet so it could have been a cyst that forms with a period.
That's interesting. No idea from the sonographer, she just said a report would go to my consultant. It was just the way I received a call on Friday and they asked me in on a Saturday morning. I'm not fully menopausal and still have periods and didnt even realise cysts were something that come and go until I googled it. I suppose the thought of ovarian cancer has crossed my mind as I've been asked to have DNA testing because my mum also had breast cancer and I have a young daughter.
I have worried about it since especially when my diagnosis was changed from ductal to lobular but the lady who did the ultrasound sound was very through because she had to do an internal ultrasound in the end as she couldn’t even find my ovaries and she told me then and there that what ever they saw was no longer there. I was referred by my GP which is different from being referred by Breast cancer consultant and I think the lady who did mine was a consultant anyway. Hopefully it will have gone when you get the results x
I suffered with ovarian cysts in my youth till my thirties. . They were concerned about a large one picked up via internal ultrasound but the following month it was gone . Some popped and cause very severe pain and heavy bleeding and others just disappeared after a few months. Consultant told me caused by hormone imbalance that stops egg releasing and then the cyst itself interferes with hormone balance so you stuck in a loop .
I’ve got invasive lobular cancer in one breast and DCIS and LCIS in the other breast. Or did until surgery 2 weeks ago. I also have an ovarian cyst but am told they are really really common and usually temporary. Problem is when you start examining a body you can find all sorts, relevant or not. The gynaecologist doesn’t want to see me until Christmas so they’re clearly not that concerned!
