Hi All,
So back in 2015 i was diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer, had chemo, mastectomy and reconstruction. Life was good after that and I even got back into fitness.
Late 2018 it came back, but this time the tumour decided it wanted to be in the middle of my chest, and wrap it self around the bone, so another operation and radiotherapy this time.
I'm now on Letrozole 2.5 mg and Ibrance (Palbociclib) 100mg.
My question is has anyone been vaccinated that has a similar situation to me?
I want to get the vaccine but still very frighten as to how it will mix with my medication and the affect it will have.
Hi there, I'm on letrozole 2.5 mg. When I went for my flu jab just before my radiotherapy Boots, the chemist (where I was given the jab), got me to phone my hospital to check that they were OK with my getting the jab. The Breast Care Nurse checked and told me it was fine. Apparently a few consultants aren't keen on this. I'm going to have my Covid Booster tomorrow morning at my GP's surgery; I checked at the Hospital when I went for radiotherapy earlier this week, and was told to go ahead. It might be worth phoning your treatment team to find out what they have to say.
Thank you so much for your reply. I have asked my consultant snd he just told me to take the vaccine and was not bothered with any concerns I had. I will speak to the breast care nurse on my next appointment. Thanks.
Well done, Akz.
The worst bit for me about going through this process is the "not knowing". When I got the information I needed (be it results of biopsy or whatever) I knew what I had to deal with and could (eventually) get my head around it.
Wishing you all the best with your next operation and radiotherapy. Keep us posted! xx
Thanks Katherine,I have already had my Op. and radiotherapy in 2019, so now seeing my consultant every month. My next visit is on the 14th of this month. I'm hoping I get the answers I need.
