Hello

I’m nearly 11 weeks post op and just wanted to know how long to expect the hard tight tummy to last for - it’s like Braxton hicks - some times I have a soft tummy ( not often ) then it really tightens up - I feel so full and bloated after eating - bed is uncomfortable and turning in bed is now like doing a three point turn !!!

It was like this after operation and they thought it was fluid - had a special dressing on it to drain it and it seemed to soften up but last few days it’s tight hard and I feel my lungs are being pressed and I can be breathless walking - can anyone tell me if this normal as I don’t know what normal is !!! I’ve emailed my nurse but she is on holiday for two weeks Face palm. I have been exercising and doing Pilates as suggested by physio since I am active / I just think I’m eating too much !!!!

  • I don't know the answer to your question but if it's pressing on your lungs and affecting your breathing I would contact your surgeon and your GP just incase.  For me anything that impacts breathing should be reported to your medical team and you shouldn't wait two weeks for your breast care nurse to get back from her holiday.

Hope your medical team are able to offer you something to give you some relief.

Let us know how you get on x

  • Hi Godwilling

thank you for your reply - I’m sure it’s just the bloated and hard tummy that makes me feel like it’s pressing on my lungs but I will take your advice and seek help - I feel like there is a concrete block in me that’s stops me bending etc - it’s just like being 9 months pregnant again !!!

  • You're probably right but contact them anyway as you have nothing to loose, there is only upside Grinning
