I’m a 21 year old woman, I noticed a white mark near my left nipple and the whole boob has been aching (kind of feels like when I went through puberty) that boob was always been bigger than the other. I have no discharge I don’t think but I think I can feel a very small lump under my nipple but again I’m not sure.
I noticed the white makes (almost like stretch marks) on Thursday and then Friday the pain started to develop. I’m only hoping if it is cancer that I’ve caught it early.
i’m incredibly scared. I called 111 and they said a clinician will call me at some point and I’m still waiting on their call. I really don’t want it to be cancer. I keep having anxiety spurts, for a bit I’ll cry but then I’ll convince myself I’m okay.
my friend said today that there’s no point in worrying because it might be nothing and I know there’s no point in worrying but that doesn’t stop me from worrying seeing as I have severe anxiety and have done since I was 5.
please if you have been through a similar experience or are going through a similar experience let me know. It’ll put my mind at ease, even if you have been diagnosed, it helps to know someone is there.
Hi Jayne, they said they had no appointments and I’ve been crying non stop since. I guess it’s hard not to spiral. I’ve had to speak to some online mental health services. I’m not sure how to cope until tomorrow morning. X
So you are being asked to ring back tomorrow?
Ok so tomorrow you need to insist on an appointment dont stop engaging with the receptionist untill you get one . Start off by telling them you need an emergency appointment face to face with doctor today. Don't let the receptionist end the conversation until you get an appointment . If this doesn't work ask the receptionist their name be very calm throughout the conversation . Explain that you will be visiting the Emergency department as you are unable to secure a medical appointment at you GPs . Tell them that the General Medical Council would be surprised to learn that a 21 year old can't get an appointment with their doctor for a cancer fear.
One last thing you could do is arrive at your GPs and take a seat and ring them from the waiting room let them know you are in the waiting room and will be waiting until you can be seen however, long that will take , hour, day, week, . They will see you ! Be calm and very polite throughout . X
Desperate times call for desperate measures
Wow ! That's excellent advice for us all ! I had a spot of bother with a Receptionist at Breast Cancer Clinic once - I tried to avoid the day when the Receptionists were there after that. It's terrible when they're not pleasant to people obviously in distress. I wasn't standing in the place where she wanted me to stand. My husband also got severely told off for moving a chair because he wanted to sit with me. I mean, this isn't the way to treat cancer patients is it !!!!!! Sometimes we waited 3 -4 hours to be seen.
Lol I did wonder if it was a bit strong but the young lady needs to see a doctor and can't get someone to see her I think it's terrible X As long as we are not rude we can't be blamed for making a stand if she was my daughter I would tell her to do that . X
Thank you so much! I’m going to ring 111 again because I just can’t cope. I’m going to ask if there’s any way for an out of hours appointment as I’m at a very low point. But I won’t stop pestering my GP until I get an appointment!!x
Obviously mention that no-one phoned you back when they said they would. Didn't you say you were still up at 4.00 am waiting for a call that never came ?
I have to say, we gave up whilst I preferred to lay flat on the bedroom floor after I fainted after my op - husband couldn't get through to anyone on 111 and Outpatients who did the op didn't see it as their responsibility. I eventually crawled back to bed and had another day when I fainted again.
I did receive a phone call but he said to book a gp appointment that morning, I was too tired because I didn’t get to sleep until 5am and there was no way I’d be able to wake up on time. On the phone to 111 now but went through the mental health team and they’re now referring me
