Hi there

My friend has been diagnosed with brain mets no headaches or sickness but very confused and quite agitated. Is this normal?

  • Is what normal, the brain mets? The fact that she has no headaches? That she is confused and quite agitated?

Either way, her case is unique to her, and her doctors will treat her accordindgly. The best you can do for her right now is to offer a listening ear if she needs it. (Also avoid saying things such as, "you are strong," and, "I know you will beat it.")

  • Hi Tricia

Sorry to hear that your friend has brain mets. Very worrying for you both, I am sure. My friend has brain mets from primary inoperable lung cancer, due to site. She has been having chemo, then targeted therapy and latterly  beams of radiotherapy focused onto the 2 brain mets.

She is stable and doing very well, now heading for 2 years since diagnosis. She is doing so well, that she is currently in the Canary Islands on holiday between targeted therapy sessions.

While we are still here, there is always hope. I think how she is doing on the new targeted therapy has even exceeded the original expectations of her onc. and care team. We are all different.

I hope that when your friend gets her treatment plan and it is underway, that she will do as well as my friend is doing.

Wishing you both all the best
